My Favourite Cocktail – Dark N Stormy

In the world of hard liquor there are cocktails which seem to be more about the smoke and mirrors of concoction and obscure ingredients. For me these are great show pieces and party starters but I like to keep it simple.

My most beloved cocktail is so simple a child could make it (not recommended!). It’s a Dark ‘N Stormy. Served long it is both refreshing and warming and my “go to” drink on a night out and occasionally at home.

Hailing from Bermuda it was Goslings with their Black Seal Rum who claim invention of the Dark ‘N Stormy and the cocktail is actually trademarked by them.

In its simplest form its 50 ml (a double shot) of Dark Rum topped up with Ginger Beer, but you can add limes if you fancy. I’m a big fan of Captain Morgan’s Rum and Old Jamaican Ginger Beer myself, but then I can’t really call it a Dark N Stormy can I?
