AmarettoAmaretto is an almond flavoured liqueur which can be drank neat, on the rocks or added to other ingredients to create several popular amaretto cocktails that are still served in cocktail bars throughout the UK. Mixed drinks such as the French Connection cocktail, the Godfather, the Toasted Almond, the Cuban Breeze and the Amaretto Sour all contain Amaretto in the recipe plus the liqueur also features in several cocktails shooters such as the Gladiator and the Tootsie Roll.

Amaretto is made from the base pit of apricot pits or almonds and the market is dominated by two main brands, namely, Disaronno Originale and Lazzaroni Amaretto. Away from drinking, Amaretto has several culinary uses, such as its use in desserts, in particular the famous Italian dessert, Tiramisu. It is also often added to sauce and whipped cream.

We have decided to pick out 3 of our favourite amaretto cocktails and show you how to make them, so you at home can experience this bittersweet taste explosion.
