What you should be doing this Friday night…
Loves Company – The Toast of Shoreditch Town
Cocktails in East London on a Friday night – what could be nicer? Er, how about cocktails and toasties?
This magical and frankly flawless combination has been thought up by Russell and the team behind new bar Loves Company. A stone’s throw from Old Street Tube, Loves Company is definitely going to be a solid contender for those looking for a good night out in Shoreditch. The décor is fabulous reto-chic, and they’ve embraced the creative vibe by asking artists to draw directly on the walls. The result is a cool and unique space that is relaxed and yet charming.
And who couldn’t love a place where you can sip on a Blossoming Kiss cocktail while munching on a Cheezus of Nazareth toastie? Or chow down on a Crustin Beiber while drinking an El Luchador (it contains pure bloodlust, dontcha know). Just scan the cocktail menu and the toastie list and you’ll see this is a place that is a fan of the tongue-in-cheek.
And Fridays promise to rock your socks even more, with a special night entitled Toast the Toast. Here you can enjoy a plethora of special guest appearances, including chefs, liquor lovers, arty types and DJs.
This Friday 25th sees Andy Bates from Food Network ‘on the Grillz’, serving up some Cuban inspired toasties– (with the exotic and slightly barmy suggestion of Strawberries in an English Muffin – don’t worry, it’s got Fontina Cheese in it…), as well as ale goddess Melissa Cole chilling behind the bar and serving up some great beer matching’s. And for those that like a bit of music, there’s DJ sets from Paradise Scientist and Skimo, while those who appreciate a bit of graffiti art can check out Jim Vision doing his thang. There’ll also be some special Monkey Shoulder cocktails doing the rounds for those that like the blended tipple.
So for a diverse, eclectic and altogether groovy night, head down to Loves Company and make the toast of your Friday night.
And while you’re in the area…
This weekend sees the last two nights of the Fever Tree Pop Up in Hoxton Square, and if you haven’t been yet then why not? With over 160 gins to choose from, it’s a must for any juniper lover. The inside space is light and spacious, with wooden pallets adorned with foliage giving it a fresh and exotic vibe, while those who like to catch some rays can sit on the decking and people-watch. The G&T’s are served in great-fish bowl glasses, and the expert bartenders can recommend a match that even a gin aficionado might be pleasantly surprised by.
