Ryan ChetiyawardanaIf only it weren’t illegal to give kids booze, for the series of masterclasses coming up to explore the concept of taste through scientific experiments from Auchentoshan look set to make being a boffin cool again.Traditional whisky tastings, with their elaborate tasting notes unintelligible to all apart from the most hardened of spirit geeks are a bit passe these days, and so it’s great to see Scotch producers like Auchentoshan turn things on their head with an altogether more modern approach.

Having teamed up with the frankly genius Ryan Chetiyawardana with his innovative approach to cocktails, the creative coffee people DunneFrankowski, and the food experimentalists Rebel Dining Society, Auchentoshan are presenting a series of masterclasses in London and Glasgow that will help you understand and analyse your preferences to certain flavors. At £15 a head to include whisky, cocktail and food tasting, these look set to be a must-visit event for fans of fine liquor, food and cocktails. Tickets are available from www.eventbrite.co.uk

Auchentoshan JulepFor those unable to attend, the Auchentoshan Classic Julep will be a sure fire hit at summer barbecues.
