Social and Cocktail bartender: Callum

Social and Cocktail bartender: Callum

We catch up with Callum, one of our talented cocktail bartenders, to speak about the private cocktail events he provides services for, and get hints & tips for the perfect drinks for a cocktail party at home.

What events do you provide services for?

I get hired for all types of events but my favourite ones are birthday parties. I love meeting different people of different ages at different locations, and some of the places I’ve visited through my work were pretty spectacular. Makes me wanna plan my own birthday party well in advance 😉

What do you enjoy about working for Social and Cocktail Events?

The thing I really like is how different every event is, one day I’ll be playing drinking games with a party of crazy hens and the next I’ll be making cocktails at a fashion show.

What do you think makes a good bartender?

A bartender needs good chat, common sense and they need to know how to have fun while working.

Tell me a little about your past bar experience.

Without boring you with my CV, I can tell you I’ve been working in the industry since I was 18 and I have worked in all kinds of bars – from whisky bars in the Highlands to city-centre cocktail bars – and I haven’t looked back since.

Do you have any funny stories or incidents you would like to share?

What do our customers say about Callum?

“Callum the bartender gave a fantastic service, was a really nice guy and was spot on with all the cocktails.”

“Everyone had a fab time and Callum was great, everybody loved him, can’t fault the service at all, first class.”

What’s your favourite Cocktail to Make?

My favourite cocktail to make is definitely an Old Fashioned – (bourbon, bitters, orange zest, water and sugar). Takes a while to make but it’s worth it.

What’s your favourite Cocktail to drink?

Again it has to be the Old Fashioned. I’m a big fan of bourbon and this is the classic bourbon cocktail.

What’s your favourite Cocktail Bar to drink in?

This is a tough one, it’s hard to pick a favourite because it depends on what mood you’re in, but right now it would The Tiki Bar and Kitsch Inn, Glasgow. Their Polynesian style cocktails are a nice change from the usual menu and drinking out of a coconut doesn’t get old.
