Santa Shot

The Ingredients

20 ml Green Crème de Menthe, 20 ml Peppermint Schnapps, 20 ml Grenadine Syrup

How To make a Santa Shot

Pour the grenadine syrup in a shot glass. Float the green crème de menthe on top and then float the peppermint schnapps on top of this. Make sure to pour the drinks slowly for the desired effect and use a bar spoon to help with layering if necessary

Social and Cocktail says:

The Santa Shot may look fantastic, and on that aspect alone should not be ruled out for a Christmas party, but tastes more like a minty mouthwash than a pleasing cocktail shooter, or the candy-cane flavour which the drink is meant to recreate.

The green crème de menthe and grenadine that are used to make this drink are both widely available, in any typical super market, off-license or on-line. The pepper schnapps, however, can be a little trickier to locate, but, if you want to try searching for a brand in particular, we recommend Rumble Minze schnapps, which is a strong mint-flavoured liqueur from Germany which is 50% ABV.

If you are unable to locate the peppermint schnapps, then it is possible to make your own. You will require 70g of granulated sugar, 326 ml of light corn syrup, 445g of high-proof vodka and 2 teaspoons of peppermint extract. Heat the sugar and corn syrup in a pan at medium heat. Next add vodka to the mixture once all the sugar has dissolved. Let the mixture cool and then add the peppermint extract.
