Cheeky Vimto does not contain vimto
One aspect of this cocktail that surprises people is that it actually does not contain Vimto as one of its ingredients. Vimto is a soft drink which was original created in England. It was originally produced as a health tonic, around 1908, but went on to become a carbonated drink several decades later. Vimto contains the juice of raspberries, blackcurrants, grapes and various herbs and spices.
There have been several other cocktails created with the aim of mimicking a popular soft drink, perhaps the most famous being the Flaming Dr.Pepper, which is a potent mix of beer, Amaretto and Everclear. The addition of the Everclear, which is a very high proof spirit, enable the cocktail to be set alight.
You can also create a variation of the Cheeky Vimto called the Extra Cheeky Vimto, which replaces one of the shots of port with a shot of vodka. This drink has become increasingly popular at college events and other occasions which can get a bit “rowdy”, such as hen parties and stage events.
