The Bacardi Cocktail is very similar to the Daiquiri, from where it originated. The cocktail stipulates Bacardi rum, so if you are a Bacardi fan this will probably be a good option, plus the grenadine adds a nice, sweet edge and attractive salmony- pink hue. The Bacardi cocktail can be made using sour mix, but some people feel this lends it a slightly synthetic taste, so the preference is always to use fresh juice, which should be the rule of thumb for most cocktails.

The origins of the Bacardi cocktail
The Bacardi Cocktail is generally served as a pre-dinner cocktail , otherwise known as an aperitif. This mixed drink has a long and illustorus history and is classicfied as a IBA Offical Cocktail. The original Bacardi was essentially the same as the classic Daiquiri, which featured rum, lemon juice and sugar. This version of the Bacardi Cocktail, which uses grenadine, originates in America. The Bacardi cocktail was the subject of a supreme court ruling in 1936 which stated that a Bacardi cocktail had to be made with Bacardi rum. This was a major marketing coup for Bacardi at the time and they subsequently actively promoted the drink around cocktail bars.
The company that owns the Bacardi brand, Bacardi Limited, is now the largest privately held, family owned spirits company in the world and currently has a portfolio of more than 200 brands and labels.The company is most synonymous with the famous white rum of the same name, which can be used in many classic cocktails, such as the Mojito and the Cuba Libre.
