Mandarin Bar says:

“Sophisticated yet trendy, clean and definitely sexy” is how leading US designer Adam Tihany describes his designs for the Mandarin Bar at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London. The bar has since become the definitive fashionable meeting place for discerning Londoners and hotel guests. Contemporary in design and capturing immediate attention, is the bar itself.

Tihany cleverly created a catwalk for bar staff that springs into the room from the glass backwall and which is flanked on either side by high bar stools. From behind the glass wall and backlit in a warm red, staff prepare tempting cocktails, creating a backdrop of theatrical silhouetted images. The interiors include a diverse mix of textures to ensure a residential feel – leather armchairs and mohair complemented by marble finishes, aesthetically blend with glass, mirrors and wood. The walls of the Mandarin Bar are lined in beige silks, displaying a series of showcases featuring individually crafted cocktail glasses and bar ornaments.
