Crib de Rib is Kensington’s exclusive destination for cocktails & dining! With a contemporary food menu crafted by Rafal Kostecki from La Bodega Negra, as well as signature cocktails designed by acclaimed mixologist Bastien Dupuy, we are much more than your standard rib shack.
Bastien Dupuy our International mixologist has brought a crazy mix of top shelf spirits and fresh herbs flavours from his trips to the Pacific & Caribbean to CDR, so why not start the night with one of our signature cocktails and have a classic one after dinner?
Crib de Rib in South Kensington is presenting ribs in a whole new light – one that is elegant, sophisticated and goes hand in hand with killer cocktails. With a menu created by acclaimed mixologist Bastien Dupuy, then it’s not only the sauce-slathered hunks of meat people are flocking for – it’s also the inventive and exciting libations.
Style and glamour seems to ooze from Crib de Rib – there’s a chic mezzanine level overlooking the restaurant, which is an area made up of small tables, perfect for an intimate dining experience. With its arched windows and wrought iron railings, Crib De Rib feels much more like a European brasserie than an American-style grill. In fact, the low lighting, plush lounge furniture and statement chandelier has created something of a members bar ambience. Plus there’s a small, ice-blue bar up here that that adds to the exclusive feel, where you can watch the bartender make your cocktails from your table.
This is a place that has got the basics right – nice glassware and high-quality crockery goes a long way. The cocktails look great as they arrive in contemporary designer martini glasses and looks do not deceive: ice-cold but not watery and well-balanced with interesting, complex flavours. The eight-strong signature cocktail list that has been designed by Bastien Dupuy does not disappoint – the sassily-named Bitches Martini is a big favourite with the ladies. Made with gin, fresh basil, St Germain liquor, lemon juice, cloudy apple juice and sweetened with Gomme syrup, it tastes clean with a subtle sweetness, the basil lending it a delicate herbaceous dimension.
We also highly recommend the ‘Round Midnight as the perfect after dinner cocktail, as it makes a change from the popular Espresso Martini. Made with brandy, bourbon, Gomme, chocolate bitters and a double espresso shot, it is punchy with tobacco notes, which are probably down to the interesting addition of the chocolate bitters.
Other notable concoctions include the fresh and fruity and slightly nutty Berryssimo – vodka, amaretto, Creme de Mûre with berry purée, and cranberry juice, with that delicious sweet finish – and the wonderfully spicy Mojito Rojo, which takes a classic mojito base then adds fiery fresh red chilli, ginger syrup & ginger beer.
Hungry too? You’ve got to try the beef or pork ribs. Arriving on large meat boards, it is fair to say the chefs at Crib de Rib do not do things by halves – the portions are generous and the ribs are heavy with of meat.
With signature cocktails priced at a very reasonable £10 each, and a food menu to make your mouth water, then Crib de Rib ticks all our boxes for style, substance, and cocktails to shout about.
