Food and Fashion? No Darling, it’s all about the Liquid Lunches…

Well, London Fashion Week is taking the city by storm – look out for ‘uniquely’ dressed Fashionistas, women in bug-eyed sunglasses carting around tiny dogs and huge Birkin bags, and the odd harassed looking photographer lurking outside shows. During this time everything becomes a catwalk – the pavement, the escalator on the tube – even, it seems, our favourite cocktail bars.

Bang on trend is TwoRuba, the lusciously luxe bar situated in the Hilton in Tower Bridge. Their later range of libations is as photogenic as any of the pieces spotted on the Frow (that’s Front Row, to all you non-Wintour-wannabes out there). Inspired by some of the most iconic designers from the last few decades, we pitched up to see if they’d make it onto our best dressed list.

The Savage Beauty

Savage Beauty Inspired By: Fashion genius Alexander McQueen

This deliciously daring cocktail delivers all the impact that the late, great designer conveyed with each superb new show. A fruity and exotic combination of pineapple, lime, agave and kumquat makes for something exquisitely sip-able, but the real wow factor comes courtesy of the shot of tequila, delivered with panache in a trademark crystal skull. Refreshing and punchy, it’s one you’ll want to return to again and again.

The Brr-Berry

Brr-BerryInspired By: You guessed it – the icons of British style, Burberry

Burberry are to thank for the classic trench, a staple of British fashion – and so TwoRuba have looked to the English countryside for inspiration, returning with handfuls of berries that are served frozen in a quintessential jam jar. Gin and lime can be the only thing to accompany this, and the result is a libation as sharp as Kate Mosses dress sense and as fresh as Emma Watson’s complexion. The drink as a whole is served on a darling coaster that reminds us that tartan was the coolest of prints long before the Chavs claimed it as their baseball-hat pattern of choice.

The Ruba Rouge

Inspired By: High-heel High-flyer Christian Louboutin

Ruba Rouge (1)Watching someone walk by flaunting those famous red soles is enough to make anyone envious, but now you can inspire the same glances of desire (almost) with this superb cocktail. Served from a vial set within a black court shoe, the red rum cocktail is a balance of sweet and sour, with thirst-quenching lychee and enough tart grapefruit to make Angelina pucker-up, while the rocks-tumbler glass that it’s poured into, topped with plump blackberries, definitely looks the part.

Golden Goddess

Golden GoddessInspired By: Timeless Glamour-pusses Dior

If it’s going to be couture, it has to be Dior – and no cocktail would do this fashion heavyweight justice unless it was served in a champagne flute. Combine rich, luxurious brandy with decadent bubbles, and garnish with a sprinkling of gold flakes, and you have an opulent, fizz-filled libation that is sure to go to your head.
