The Joint

The Joint says:

The Joint Marylebone features a central bar upstairs and a smaller cocktail bar downstairs serving quality drinks that have been designed to complement the flavoursome BBQ food.  Created daily by head bartender Kjersti Scottow, the cocktails are served by tap from large Kilner jars that line the bar.  Brixton Brewery craft beers & ales and St. Reatham lagers also available along with soft drinks and a strong selection of South African and Australian wines.

Social and Cocktail says:

Is Marylebone ready for fast food on paper plates and dishes that you can only eat properly sans cutlery? With a menu as mouth-watering as this, and inventive expertly-made cocktails, it sure is! If you’ve been to its predecessor in Brixton Village Market, you’ll know that the guys at The Joint have honed their recipe for success, and as pioneers of the American BBQ scene in London, they have perfected their pulled pork, with their meaty marinades second to none.

The new Marylebone venue, ideally located just off Marylebone High Street, boasts two floors of space, featuring a central bar upstairs in the 65 cover restaurant and a smaller, sassier cocktail bar downstairs. Decorated in a casual street party style that wouldn’t look out of place in the hipster areas of Brooklyn, guests are invited to sit at long refectory tables and all get to know each other, Wagama-style.

Kilner JarsIt is not only the barbecued delights that will have the Marylebone elite flocking through The Joint’s doors. The cocktail list changes daily and is designed to complement the sweet, charred flavours of the BBQ food. Head bartender, Kjersti Scottow, brings new creations to the bar each morning and the cocktails are served by tap from large Kilner jars that line the bar. We try a Figgy Ol’ Fashioned, made with bourbon, fig and vanilla syrup and angostura bitters. The candied, butterscotch flavours are great match with the sticky, caramelised baby back ribs, and the smokiness of the bourbon comes through delightfully.

We also loved the Thyme Collins, made with gin, lemon thyme, agave and soda. Sharp and fresh, it is the perfect cocktail to cut through the sweetness of the BBQ marinades, and offset the tang of the hot wings or the chilli riblets.

Warren Dean and Daniel Fiteni’s straight-forward concept of creating simple fast food with a twist is what makes The Joint so appealing. Good, honest ingredients with a passion for keeping things local (even the beer is made in Brixton and Streatham and the bread buns come from the Bad Boys Bakery in Brixton Prison) makes The Joint a welcome addition to Marylebone’s restaurant scene. And if that’s not enough, the daily-changing cocktails have definitely sealed the deal for our return.
