From midweek ‘comfort food’ meals to show-stopping dinner party displays of boozy brilliance, you really can’t beat a meal that’s been licked into shape with some added liquor.

Here are 5 of the most popular boozy recipes on Vinspire:

1. Cachaça Marinated Steak

(Pictured Above)

Thanks to the World Cup, everyone seems to be talking about caipirinhas, and their spirit base, cachaça. But this sugar spirit is not just good in a glass – it also makes a wonderful marinade for a big, juicy steak. So tender, so full of flavour, so devilishly good.

Vinspire Gin and Tonic Chicken2. Gin and Tonic Can Chicken

A few of you will have heard of beer can chicken – where you roast a chicken balanced on top of an open can of beer, so it is infused with the flavours – but recently Adam decided this could be taken up a notch by using a can of readymade gin and tonic instead. The results? Spectacular.

3. Sticky Bourbon Sweet Potato ChipsVinspire sticky bourbon sweet potato chips

Not a whole meal, no, but I’d happily eat these with pretty much anything.

I like them chunky, so the outside gets firm and sticky but the inside is still fluffy.

A perfect match for spicy chicken or a chilli con carne.

Vinspire tequila glazed ribs4. Tequila-Glazed Ribs

This was a bit of a ‘Eureka!’ moment for Jo – slathering some ribs in sugar, lime, coriander and a few other herbs and spices, she decided the salty meat and fruity marinade would be a perfect match for some tequilaaaa!

Oh boy, how right she was. This is now a staple at every one of my barbecues…

5. Pale Ale and Sausage Frittata

Frittata was always one of those things I used to get rid of leftovers, but this recipe is worth going out of your way to create. The fresh, citrussy ale with the Italian sausages and spices is a total win, and it’s a fuss-free recipe to ease yourself into cooking with beer more often. Believe me, you won’t regret it.

Vinspire sherry chorizo stew6. Sherry and Chorizo stew

Midweek meals don’t get more comforting than this – and it’s made using ingredients most of you will have in your cupboards anyway (or you can improvise…)

Proof that sherry is a perfect accompaniment to Spanish flavours, I always serve this with a big glass of vino on the side, too.
