5 Top Boozy Bakes

With the new series of Great British Bake Off well underway (and causing more than a bit of controversy) there’s no better time to get into the kitchen and earn the Star Baker title for your own household.

And what better way to boost your cooking confidence than by adding a splash of Dutch courage to your favourite recipes? Here are five of Vinspire’s favourite boozy bakes:

 

1.Kir Royale Macaroons

Although they’re trickier than a batch of biscuits, macaroons aren’t as scary as they may seem, and even if they go wrong, it’s fun to eat the mess at the end. These ones contain crème de cassis, meaning you should definitely sip a glass of Champagne while you nibble them to create that Kir Royale effect.

 

2.Plum Biercake

Discovering the Boozy Baker book was a very good day for us. This recipe is one of the highlights, and shows that beer and cake are a match made in heaven.

 

 

3.Whisky Maple French Toast

Proof, if ever it was needed, that it is definitely okay to have booze for breakfast sometimes. Only sometimes, mind, which is why we reserve this divine whisky French toast for lazy bank holiday weekends.

Who knew vodka and cake would mix so well? It really does – and the orange and cranberry notes make these cakes as light and zingy as the cocktail itself.
